About Sound Design
Sound Design was the first major project I started since changing study courses.
It was developed in order to deliver high-quality original audio for CORE projects.
Outside of improving h7lyx CORE projects it also boosts my overall knowledge in audio production.
This project was developed specifically for “FILRECV“.
A h7lyx CORE project released 25/05/2025.
This documentation delves into my learning process.
It documents the plugins I used and where to download or buy them.
It also features downloadable audio files from the project.

Artwork
Since this project was centered around a CORE project it originates from visuals.
The process was relatively typical for most projects.
I explore art on a daily basis, this time I ran into two pieces.
The image on the left side was the one I initially wanted to use for this project.
After finding the image on the right I was stuck debating which of the artworks to use.
After a while I decided to pick the right artwork and made it transparent.

Visuals
The background started out as several images of trees that I captured.
I duplicated several layers, added other photos and applied different blending mode.
Eventually I started heavily distorting the background using several filters.
I also added a burst distortion which I embedded into the background.
After the base of the background was developed I started merging the artwork.
I started off removing the background and merging the burst I made.
After a while I merged both distorted layers of the artwork and background.
Gradually I was already experimenting with colors as I went on making this project.
Once the Core visuals were completed I edited the coloring, shown in the 3rd images bellow.
I also developed custom assets for the projects containing easter eggs in this project.
Row three features two CMD Designs I designed and edited for FILRECV.
The second image is the same featured in the published project.

Orientation
After finishing the core assets for FILRECV I progressed to develop the Sound Effects.
This time however I had just changed my study course and I had the opportunity to create a project around it.
I used Groow, a software that my study uses to monitor project development for students.
Bellow, an image of the process roadmap is shown for this project.
It starts out with a starting point;
where I documented my goal of re-exploring sound design more professionally.
The process continues into several sections of subjects with tasks.
After the starting point I oriented myself into exploring FL Studio by myself without help.
This went how you would imagine it would go, chaotic and very messy.
I continued with a ton of research, from friends, professionals, online and in person.
I watched over 7 hours of content explaining the software I use and Sound Design in general.
My friend Danny, who is a experienced Bass, Cello and Piano player helped to teach me Music Theory.
In this phase I learned a whole lot about FL Studio, its plugins and music theory.
Because of this I felt ready to get stared developing the full project.
The process continued to personal, professional and neutral reflections and revisions.
It delved deeper into the project with Algorithm researches and feedback documentations.

Plugins
FL Studio’s stock plugins brought me a long way, but some things were still missing
I ended up using several third party plugins in order to polish this project as much as I could.
Bellow is a full list with all the plugins I used including links on where to download or buy them.
If you can, I highly encourage you also support the VST authors and purchase their licenses.
FL STUDIO Stock Plugins:
Fruity Limiter
Fruity Peak Controller
Fruity Soft Clipper
Fruity Stereo Enhancer
Fruity Stereo Shaper
Fruity Parametric EQ 2
Fruity Reeverb 2
Third party Plugins

Sound Design
I studied Sound Design thoroughly, learning music theory and FL Studio as a whole.
I started with cord progressions using LABS’ Opia pack.
This grew out to several layers generating textures, ambience and patterns.
The full project arrangement is show bellow this paragraph.
After I had most of the project rounded up I also did an Algorithm research.
This is the primary reason for the abrupt silence in the middle of the project.
I reached out to several people, professionals, friends etc. for feedback.
The project ended up being revised three times in order to perfect it.
The total time spend within FL Studio is 19 hours.
This excludes all of the research I have done outside of the software.
FILRECV took roughly three months to finalize in its entirety.

Project Assets
As a neat bonus I’d like to link FILRECV’s project assets for your own projects!
You are free to use these assets in your own project, free of charge.
The only condition is to credit @h7lyx when publishing your project.
With that said the asset library includes:
FILRECV’s Core Visuals Export, 1920×1080 + 1080×1920
FILRECV’s Background Export, 1920×1080 + 1080×1920
